HBO Screening Room
New York, NY
“What really counts is after the lights go down, we have to have the best picture and sound in New York City.”
Arthur Badavas, SVP, HBO
With this directive, a double height space was carved out of a midtown office building, its 120 seats steeply raked for excellent sight lines while keeping the sense of intimacy. With only a glass curtain wall separating the space from 42nd Street, an extensive acoustic isolation system was installed to virtually eliminate outside noise.
Crisp modern details and flat, incised wall planes characterize this reinterpretation of the classic Hollywood screening room. Carefully matched anigre wood, non-directional nickel silver, and custom textiles in warm muted tones impart a sense of luxury and anticipation.
